beauty, fashion and more

Hello everyone! I've been really enjoying a few products lately so much so I decided to write a blog post now rather than waiting the till end of the month for monthly favourites!

1. I've been obsessed with the highlighting palette from Sleek in "precious metals", specially the shade on the bottom left. It gives the. most. amazing. glow.

2. The BeYu compact powder foundation has been under my nose for so long and I never thought it would be this good and give this much coverage but it does. It gives the perfect no makeup effect.

3. I've also been pairing the powder foundation with the Maybelline Age Rewind concealer. This has become i think my number 1 concealer. It has amazing coverage, doesnt crease and lasts aaaall day long.

4. The NYX lingerie liquid lipsticks also have a really soft texture and they are extremely long lasting and do not transfer. I have these in the shades 08 and 12.

5. Last but not least are 2 little nifty products from Guerlain. These are from the "super tips" range which is a recently launched mini skincare "treats" for the face. I say skin care but in reality I feel like they really are just little "lift me ups" for the face. The yellow one is Radiance in a Flash and it is a primer which I love to apply underneath my foundation or BB cream for a gorgeous glow (amazing finish when paired with the Sleek highlighting palette!!). The pink one is Super Lips and its a really glossy balm for the lips. It smells amaaaaazing (it doesn't really have to do with the quality of the product I know but I love nice smelling make up!!) and it really does moisturise the lips for hours (however I do reapply after eating).

I hope you enjoyed this blog post!

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a good weekend! This week's blog post is all about the newest BeYu contouring palette.

In my opinion not enough people know about this brand. It was launched in 1999 and it part of thr ARTDECO cosmetic group. It's a mass market brand (so similar to other brands such as MaxFactor, Loreal etc) which aims to provide the customers with the latest makeup trends while still keeping the products very affordable.

I really like their newest contouring palette which includes 4 powders, a contouring shade, a beautiful pinky blush and 2 strobing shades. One of which is matte and the other has a slight shimmer to it.

I first start by using the bronzey contouring shade just below the apples of my cheeks to give definition and also to make my chubby cheeks look slightly less round and -obviously- less chubby haha! The palette recommends to contour the nose, forehead and jawline as well but I'm not too fond of that on my face because it I have no jawline so it looks funny, and adding on to that, I don't really feel like my nose ans forehead need contouring.
However I cannot go out of the house without contouring my cheeks, I love love love it.

Next I apply the blush on the apples of my cheeks and then seal my concealer underneath my eyes with the matt strobing shade. The last step is the highlighter which I place on the cupid's bow (just on the upper lip), on the tip of my nose and on my cheek bones.
And voila! Here is the finished look!

The powders are really pigmented and they go on really well. A little bit of product goes a long way especially if you blend blend blend!

I hope you enjoyed this blog post, if you have any comments or suggestions please do leave them below :)
Until next time!

Hello everyone! It's an outfit of the day for today's blog post! I love midi dresses and I love them even more if they're black!
This one particularly has a very short turtle neck and no sleeves, which is perfect for Autumn or even Winter. I also have on a pair of simple oxford type wedges which I got fot 5€ on sale!! Loveeeee bargains!
The highlight of the outfit for me is my new Aldo bag definitely. I'm so in love with it since it has 3 colours and goes with so many outfits.

Hello everyone! I'm back with my first face of the day! I've lately laid off my usual brown and nude eyeshadows and I've really been liking a very peachy-bronzey look like the one above!

First off, for my complexion I started off by applying my Payot jour day cream. I've been using this for a few weeks now and I love how fresh my face feels after applying it. It gives a beautiful glow to the skin and I then apply Guerlain L'Or primer on top to further enhance the radiance. This has to be one of my favourite primers alongside Guerlain's meteorites primer. They both give a natural glow to the skin however L'Or is infused with 24 carat gold so it is super reflective of light. A bonus when using a primer obviously is how much more long lasting the foundation is with it underneath!

And as for foundation I applied the last few drops I have remaining of my Guerlain parure de lumiere foundation. I chose this one over other foundations since it leaves a dewy finish and it's the look I'm going for.

Before I get into details of what products I used on my lids, here's a close up of the eye make up.

One of the reasons I love this look lately is because I only use 3 products on my eyelid. Super fast and perfect for lazy lay-ins in the morning haha!

For the lid I used a plain matte cream eyeshadow, this really brightens the eyes and I much prefer cream rather than white as it looks much more natural

Funnily enough the peachy colour I used in  my crease is a blusher!(picture below)
I also added essence eye liner and my Dior Iconic Overcurl mascara. This is my holy grail high end mascara, it gives the ultimate false lash effect and I adore it.

For brows lately I've been trying out the L.A Girl brow kit alongside with my favourite brow wax from BeYu.

For blusher I used the same as the one I used in my crease and it's the one from the Guerlain Spring look '16 (always prefer a duo colour blusher!)
Finally as for bronzer I used the new Guerlain Terracotta bronzing powder in the shade number 3 for brunettes. It's not matte but has a very discreet shimmer to it which I adore. I also noted this bronzer is much more long lasting than others I've tried so it's definitely making it's way to my faves.

The finishing touch is Guerlain La Petite Robe Moire lipstick in shade 041. I used a plain nude lip liner from essence underneath because I didn't want the colour of the lipstick to look darker.

I really hope you enjoyed this mostly Guerlain inspired face of the day!

I've been using this face mist from Payot for a few weeks now and I absolutely love it. This face mist is meant to refresh and revitalize the skin especially during summer. It hydrates and also acts as a detoxifying shield against any harmful things in the air.
I usually spray this about 15cm away from my face usually when I've been wearing makeup all day long and when I can't take my make up off yet (case in point, going out after work). My skin starts to feel a bit yucky when it's too humid and hot and this mist is the PERFECT pick me up! It's suitable for all skin types and it's alcohol free.
It can also be worn before your day cream and even right after you apply your make up as a setting spray. When worn directly on bare skin I feel it helps the skin regain radiance more readily than when sprayed on a made up face but it really is a multi purpose mist and can be used in however way you prefer!

I hope you enjoyed this short post and if you've tried this mist yourself, do let me know your thoughts!

Hello everyone! For anyone who hasn't heard of the brand Lee Stafford, they offer a large range of hair products, some of which include hair growth treatments, frizz reducing treatments as well as an argan oil range. They recently brought out special gloves made out of fluffy material which are supposed to act as a towel but with a better texture so as to prevent breakage, it seems really interesting and I'm tempted to try them out!
I've tried out a few products from their range and I LOVE them. I have very stubborn and frizzy hair which likes to do its own thing so I find it really hard to find products that actually work on my hair. But these do and they're really impressive!

This is probably the 4th bottle I bought of this spray and it works miracles. You spray it arms length away from dry hair (any closer and your hair will feel a bit damp, as with any other hair spray) and your hair instantly feels different. My hair feels lighter and most importantly it does not frizz! It works whatever the weather is like unlike other frizz reducing products which tend to let my hair go haywire anyway in very humid environments. It keeps my hair straight and frizz free and it only costs around €12! Amazinggggggg!!!

This hair spray defers completely from the Dehumidifier as it keeps your hair in place (hence the strong hold). I love using it when I curl my hair with my curling iron as usually my curls tend to do their own thing and uncurl themselves but with this hair spray they last for HOURS. Those who don't like a crispy feel to the hair probably won't enjoy this product but Lee Stafford actually has another hair spray which is a bit different, you can still run your fingers through it. I prefer this one as this is the kind of strong hold I need for my very stubborn hair! I forgot to mention these products smell gorgeous! It's not an overpowering scent but strong enough for others to smell it when you whip your hair like in the ads on the television haha!

A few other products that I'd really like to try is the Hair Growth treatment and the Hair Growth leave-in treatment. So many people have said it works wonders and I'm really intrigued even though my hair does grow quite quickly, it would still be pretty cool to try it and be able to trim my hair more often and keeping the same length.

I hope you enjoyed this post and it was somehow useful to you! If you've used these products before do let me know what you think of them too!

Hello everyone! I have a product review for you today and it is a product I hold very closely to my heart. Diorskin forever has been around for ages now but last January they released a new and improved formula. This is one of my very favourite foundations along side others.
One of the main reasons I absolutely love this foundation is because it offers a semi-matte effect, which means no finishing powder needs to be applied on top because there is no stickyness (worst. feeling. ever.) On top of that it is made to reduce excess sebum for those who suffer from an oily T-zone (me!!).
It offers a light texture even though it is medium to full coverage, meaning it won't look cakey which is always a plus. Apart from reducing sebum it also reduces any pores that might still show over any other foundation- the new Diorskin Forever makes sure it leaves a beautiful flawless finish on the skin.
I love applying this with my beauty blender but lately I've also found out that it blends in even more evenly when I use a buffing brush instead. It is very long lasting too! I usually apply my makeup in the morning and take it off in the evening and even then it looks like I've just applied it. Furthermore it even has SPF 35 which is a plus especially in summer.

Lastly, my favourite thing about this foundation as well as Dior foundations is the beautiful shades available. So much attention to detail is paid in manufacturing a high end product, that is why for each shade, Dior released a beige toned, yellow toned and pink toned alternative to choose from.

If this post has enticed you into trying it, I get mine from Franks.
Thank you so much for reading and if you have any requests or recomendations please do let me know!

Hello everyone! Even though I had exams all throughout this month and therefore been very busy, I've been loving quite a few beauty bits and so I decided to share them with you!

Pictured above is the Guerlain liquid liner. Both of these were kindly gifted to me by a colleague of mine and I absolutely adore them. Their consistency is why I love them so much. They are a cross between a gel liner and a liquid liner and the applicator is so easy to work with. Thin applicators I think are the easiest even for those who are beginners with makeup. Not only is the applicator thin but it is also flexible which I find absolutely amazing to make the perfect eyeliner "flick"  or cat eye look. Another thing I adore about this eyeliner is the two colours. The black is very intense which I love, while the brown gradually gets a bit darker as it dries but still is perfect to achieve a subtle smokey eye.
By the way these two eyeliners can be found at Franks even though the brown one is discontinued.

The next three products I've been really enjoying this past month have to do with the complexion. The first product on the left is the 123 perfect CC cream from Bourjois. For those who don't know what a CC cream is or what it stands for, it is a "colour corrector"  and what makes the Bourjois CC cream special is that it actually contains colour pigments to even out uneven skintones and hide undereye circles, blemishes etc. It has a medium coverage so I really like this for summer (although still prefer a BB cream for the beach as it's of thinner consistency).

The second product is actually a long lost love of mine. I found it in my drawer and I actually used to use this loose powder all over my face with a powder brush for a matte finish, which I don't really sport anymore as I prefer a radiant finish. However with "baking" now in trend I've started using it under my eyes and it works like a charm. Let me know if you would like a tutorial on baking as I (very excitedly) finally figured out how to do it myself.

The third product is the matt bronzing powder from Catrice cosmetics. I've actually never tried anything from Catrice before this but I am very impressed. This powder is really pigmented for the price (€5!!) and I love using this as a blusher or as a subtle contour (I have the medium shade). I find that it works well as a blusher because it has an undertone of peach not brown. Love love love!

Something I've also particularly loved this month is the Miss Dior eau de parfum. I've had the eau de toilette for a while now but I recently got given the eau de parfum which is slightly more intense. Essentially they are very similar regarding notes. Both contain mandarin/orange essence as a top note and the base note is patchouli for both too. However the heart is different with the eau de toilette having neroli and rose while the eau de parfum has jasmine. Both absolutely beautiful fragrances and you should definitely give them a whiff if you're ever around any Franks outlet.

I hope you enjoyed this post and let me know what you think of these products if you have used them before. Thank you so much for reading!

Love,  Laila xx
